October 2014 Trip Report – HHN Nights And Food & Wine Days – Day 4
On this Sunday morning I got my first break. Originally I had some plans that got turned upside down, another story for another day. I slept in a bit and my three comrades had other plans for the day as they only had two day tickets to the parks. Cocoa Beach was their destiny and I was going to play it by ear.
I decided Diagon made sense, and I also decided to see if I could figure out the walk over to the parks from Cabana Bay. I enter the elevator and my mom calls me. I answer the phone and she is hysterical and says ‘Thank God you are alive’. Apparently she was on facebook and saw that fake story about 25 people dying at Universal Studios as a result of an accident. Unfortunately, I didn’t realize what she was looking at until I had already taken to twitter to find out what was going on. Suddenly, I am also perpetuating the fake story. This is why moms should not be allowed on the internet!
So I find the exit out the north side of the parking lot and make my way to the parks. You have to cross a six lane road but there is a cross walk with a light to make that a bit less stressful. Once you cross the road it is a straight shot to the Royal Pacific Path into CityWalk. I would say it took me about 10 – 12 minutes to get there. Not sure how much the walking bridge will shave off of that, but it was a pretty reasonable walk. If the buses stay as a efficient as they had been during my stay, not sure there will be any point to it.
I arrived and headed toward Islands of Adventure. I hit up Spider-Man and Forbidden Journey before taking the Hogwarts Express to Diagon Alley. Yes, Diagon Alley did it to me again. Blown away every time I step foot in there. I meandered through the shops, and through the streets of Diagon taking pictures before bumping into a friend. Had a couple of beers and sat through a couple of Celestina performances before saying goodbye. Celestina Warbeck is nothing short of spectacular. The performance rival’s any entertainment going. If they would give me a chair, I might just sit there all day with my Dragon Scale Ale and watch it.
I needed a dose of Springfield as well since it was lunch time. I got a Krusty Burger and a Duff dry from Fast Food Boulevard. Kicked back for a bit and took some more pictures of the park before heading back to the hotel for some rest before another night of HHN. Once rested we opted for an easy dinner at the Bay Liner. Yesterdays VIVO experience made us want to keep it simple.
We came, we saw, we purged. We once again did all the HHN houses and spent more time in the Purge scare zone. This would be their final night here and we felt good about it. Never got them to sit for Bill & Ted, but pretty happy with that first leg of the vacation overall.
