Must Do Get Aways at the Magic Kingdom

Must Do Get Aways at the Magic Kingdom

Sometimes you need to get away from the crowds and all the activity without actually leaving the park, and that is what we are talking about today. Places we can get a little separation to make a phone call or maybe just get some much needed rest. Let’s take on the Magic Kingdom and see where the best places are to get away from it all.

Coming in at number five is Tom Sawyers Island. Most people avoid the island like the plague which is exactly why its a great place to go to get away from it all. It is pleasant, has plenty of shade and even a rocking chair or two where you can sit and relax with a cold beverage from Aunt Polly’s. Technically the island is an attraction but it is much more of a nature walk than anything else. Whether your desire is to just take a seat or take a slow relaxing walk away from the crowds, this is one of the best places to go.

The rose garden by the castle near the hub is a fantastic spot to move away from the crowds for a moment or two to gather yourself. Coming in at number four with me here you will find beautiful landscaping and a scenic view of nature and the iconic castle. There are some benches to take a load off your feet if needed or just let nature soothe your soul. From this vantage you can see all of the hustle and bustle of the park but it feels as though you are watching from afar.

Big Thunder Mountain may be at the end of Frontierland but the path pushes just a bit further beyond that. Coming in at number three is by the photo spot location of Big Thunder. There is so much chaos in this area as it not only results in a dead end but you also have two major attractions in this path to nowhere. My advice, walk as far to nowhere as you can if you want a break as the typical tourist will go no further than the queue at BTMR. Kick back, pull it together and enjoy a perspective of the area not often noticed.

The number two get away location on my list is walked past over and over all day long. As you enter the park and walk down Main Street there is a little alley tucked in the right side just before you get to Uptown Jewelers. Back here there are a few available seats/tables with some shade even.  Enjoy a snack from many of the nearby options and tuck yourself away and people watch at the masses who stumble right on by never giving you a second glance. It is amazing how close you are to the action here and yet completely removed from it all.

My favorite location to get away from it all is the pathway between Tomorrowland and New Fantasyland tucked in behind Space Mountain.  This leisurely walk way is practically abandoned and has benches every so often along the path. Imagine two of the busiest parts of the park having a walk way that hardly anyone uses or knows about. Sometimes it can be so frustrating walking from Tomorrowland to Fantasyland because of the crowds and this little path albeit a longer stroll is often worth the extra to just go ahead and get away from it all.

In summary, here are my top 5 favorite locations within the Magic Kingdom to get away from it all:

5. Tom Sawyer Island

4. The Rose Garden by the castle

3. Photo spot at Big Thunder Mountain Railroad

2. Alley on Main Street

1. Pathway behind Space Mountain to the back of New Fantasyland
